Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford took a slap shot from Montreal Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber in the mask and stayed in the game.

The play came in the second period of their contest Tuesday at Bell Centre off a on-timer pass Weber received inside the circle on a power play. Crawford seemed shocked for a second and was looked at by the team’s trainer, but then continued on.

InGoal Magazine tweeted that the Weber shot was the hardest the publication had seen a goaltender take in the mask from that range. Interestingly, this appeared to not trigger the NHL’s concussion spotter to remove Crawford from the game.

“I just tried to go out and take the angle away, and it’s too bad he smoked me there,” Crawford said.

Coach Joel Quenneville said that Hawks head athletic trainer Mike Gapski took a look at Crawford and believed the goaltender was OK.

“That was sorted out there when (Gapski) was out there with Crow, the refs were all around,” Quenneville said. Quenneville also reportedly noted that Crawford was “tested” by finishing off the penalty kill.

Weber has won the last three all-star hardest shot competitions. He recently hit 102.8 mph at the 2017 NHL All-Star Game in Los Angeles and has been clocked as fast as 108.5 mph, which he hit in the 2015 NHL All-Star Game in Columbus.
