Winter Classic 2016 will be played in Boston: Report

On a day where we pointed out how long it took the NHL to land a venue for the 2015 Winter Classic, comes a report that the league is close to naming a spot for 2016.

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, the NHL is in talks with the Boston Bruins for the 2016 Winter Classic. It was said on TSN's Insider Trading.

Per McKenzie:

“I would think that by mid-January to mid-February, that it could be finalized if all goes well. That's the primary focus right now, but the deal not done just yet."

So now that's out there, but we still have a few questions...

For starters, where will the game be played? Would the league go back to Fenway Park, the location of the 2010 Winter Classic between the Bruins and Flyers. Or would the NHL go to some other Boston-area sporting venue like Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass, home of the New England Patriots? Maybe do the game at Boston College's Alumni Stadium?

Also, on a sidenote, wouldn't it be nice if a Western Conference team not named the Chicago Blackhawks could host the event?

Alas, per McKenzie, Denver and Minnesota will likely both get outdoor games for the 2015-16 season, soothing riled up non East Coast dwellers (blogger raises hand), and Winnipeg is the front-runner to get the 2016 Heritage Classic.
