Reading Royals’ Olympic-themed jerseys win gold medal for creativity (Photo)

We're now down to 22 days before the start of the men's hockey tournament in Sochi. To help prepare everyone for the start of the Games, the ECHL's Reading Royals want to make their players feel like Olympians -- gold medalists, to be specific.

For their game on Saturday, Feb. 9 against the Wheeling Nailers, the Royals will sport these Olympic-themed jerseys featuring the flags of participating countries, as well as their logo within a giant metallic embroidered gold medal attached to a sublimated ribbon on the jersey.

Looking at the Royals' current roster, they sport 11 players from the U.S., 9 from Canada and 1 from Slovakia, so Michal Cajkovsky will be happy to see his home country represented on these specialty jerseys.

Previous specialty jerseys worn by the Royals this season include a spooktacular one for Halloween and, of course, the infamous ugly Christmas sweater design.

Once again, the Royals will be selling the jerseys post-game on a first-come, first-served basis with the proceeds going toward youth hockey in the Reading area.
