The Ottawa Senators are all too familiar with this scenario, having seen winger Dany Heatley request a trade and then refuse to ship out to the Edmonton Oilers despite their impressive offer to GM Bryan Murray. (Well, impressive in 2009; how would Sens fans feel about Cogliano, Penner and Smid today? And how would it have changed things for Edmonton?)
The Senators could have anted up to the Blue Jackets a solid package that could have included players like center Mika Zibanejad and goalie Robin Lehner. Alas, they've been Heatley'd: Murray confirmed on Sunday that the Senators were no longer pursuing Nash because he refused to add them to his list of desirable locations.
Murray confirms Nash wouldn't waive NTC to come to Ottawa. "There was no sense in chasing - we didn't feel that was necessary."
Aw … the Senators didn't even get a chance to pitch Nash with a tourism video of Ottawa like the Oilers did Nash back in 2009.
Meanwhile, TSN's Darren Dreger reports that the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Carolina Hurricanes are pushing for Nash; the Philadelphia Flyers, according to TSN, "appear to be out" for Nash. Keep in mind Nash would have to add the Canes to his list.
