Las Vegas Wranglers’ Spider-man jerseys are the best thing on the… web
The ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers are no strangers to cool promotions. Heck, they're going to be playing their home games next year on the roof of a casino. But that's next year. What are they doing this weekend?
Spider-man jerseys.
The Wranglers will be dressed as your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man Saturday, March 1, versus the Idaho Steelheads, after which the game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting Children’s Hospital of Nevada at UMC. Jerseys will also be available in the team shop.
But wait! There's more! Spider-man himself will be in attendance, "live and in costume in the concourse during the game." They got Spider-man!
The real question now is whether it's just one of the actors from Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, which closed its curtains in New York a month ago and is reportedly heading to Vegas, or the real flipping Spider-man. It might be the real one.
Either way, we look forward to seeing how the Wranglers manage their powerplay in Spider-Man jerseys. With great power comes great responsibility, after all, so if they give up a shorthanded goal, it's a pretty good indication that they failed to heed the lessons for which Uncle Ben died.
We also look forward to seeing whether they come out in the third period in a hip, edgy, black version of the same jerseys, then start aggressively headshotting opponents and generally acting out of control. That happens to Spider-men.
In keeping with the theme of the evening, the posts and crossbar will be surrounded by a meshy material that looks a lot like webbing.
