Johan Franzen throws shade at Pierre McGuire over Patrick Kane praise
Johan Franzen is out indefinitely for the Detroit Red Wings after multiple concussions, which sucks.
But the NHL’s loss has been Instagram’s gain, as the Mule has unleashed a collection of rather hilarious social media observations. Among the greatest hits: Gifting Gustav Nyquist some Mike Babcock bed sheets after “his dad” signed with Toronto; and celebrating Dylan Larkin’s teenage “snip show” video.
On Wednesday night, Franzen was watching the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Detroit Red Wings, a game in which Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists. And while Kane has been very specific about who “the Magic Man” really is in the NHL -- that would be Pavel Datsyuk of the Red Wings -- NBCSN’s Pierre McGuire … well, he decided to transfer the moniker to Patrick Kane:
Patrick Kane: "Pavel Datsyuk...they call him Magic Man for a reason."
Pierre McGuire: "The Magic Man, Patrick Kane." pic.twitter.com/eGLvDoVDNq— Brad Galli (@BradGalli) March 3, 2016
This did not go over well with Red Wings fans, who all know that Datsyuk is “The Magic Man.”
(As does Siri, famously.)
And this did not go over well with Franzen, who took to Instagram with this missive:
Oh man. That photo. That shade.
Almost as good as the time he said Sidney Crosby’s mumps made him look like Andy Samberg on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Almost.
