Did Matt Moulson’s goal really beat James Reimer? (Video)

Take a look at the corner of the Toronto Maple Leafs' net behind James Reimer's left shoulder. See the net ripple? That's likely what referee Brian Pochmara saw after Matt Moulson's shot, thereby giving the Buffalo Sabres forward his 15th goal of the season and a 2-1 second period lead.

But are our eyes playing tricks on us? Did the puck really go in?

Here's the overhead feed from MSG:

The puck rings off both posts, doesn't cross the line or appear to hit the mesh in that corner from the overhead angle. This replay shown later by MSG makes it appear as if the puck hit that corner mesh underneath the crossbar:

There was no call from or to the NHL Situation Room not far from Air Canada Centre in Toronto. In the end, Moulson's goal helped the Sabres earn a point as the Maple Leafs prevailed in a shootout 4-3.

What did Moulson think?
