Dan Sexton with stupendous dive of year candidate in KHL (Video)
Remember Dan Sexton? He played for the Anaheim Ducks and their minor league affiliates until 2013, when he departed for Finland and then ended up in the KHL with Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik. (Gesundheit!)
Sexton and his team were playing Metallurg on Wednesday, and he may have earned an official slot on the U.S. 10-meter platform team for the 2016 Rio Games.
As Evgeny Timkin cut across his own blue line, Sexton narrowly avoided a collision with his shoulder. But Sexton wasn't going to let a little thing like absolutely not contact steal his sunshine, so he still decided to flop to the ice like he super-kicked in the stomach.
There are some angles of the video above where you’re convinced that Sexton got clipped, but that’s because the human brain can’t process a dive this epic.
Best case scenario: Sexton was so startled by Timkin skating in front of him that his legs became linguini and he flopped helplessly to the ice, like a fawn startled by an onrushing tractor trailer.

Timkin was given a 2-minute minor for interference, which really didn’t sit well with Metallurg. How can you tell? The team putting this video on their official YouTube feed under the header “Best Supporting Actor” was a subtle clue.
