Brett MacLean, Coyotes’ AHLer, suffers ‘cardiac emergency’; taken to ICU
Scary stuff from the Phoenix Coyotes: Forward Brett MacLean suffered a "cardiac emergency" Monday night while playing hockey in Owen Sound, Ont.
"Brett received CPR on site and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance where he was treated. He was then transported via an air ambulance to Knight University Hospital in London, Ontario where he was admitted to the cardiac ICU.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Brett and his family. We request that everyone please respect their privacy at this time. We will provide an update on Brett's status when information is available."
MacLean — not to be confused with former Florida Panthers center Brett McLean — was drafted No. 32 overall in 2007 by the Coyotes. He was placed on waivers last October and claimed by the Winnipeg Jets; he was placed on waivers again later that month and reclaimed by Phoenix, playing 63 games for the AHL Portland Pirates last season.
