Best buds get 'Stanley Cup Champions' tattoos for Blackhawks, Lightning (Photo)

We all make regrettable decisions in life. Some are more permanent than others. Remember that Kentucky fan who got “2015 National Champions” tattooed on his leg before the NCAA basketball tournament in March? That didn’t work out so well.

Jonny Baker and Cody Neal are co-workers, friends and hockey fans. They’re also fans of the opposing teams in the 2015 Stanley Cup Final; so with that came a friendly rivalry and pact that will last a lifetime.

You see, Baker and Neal are both Tampa-area tattoo artists and each chose to get celebratory tattoos for their respective teams as if they had already won the Cup.

The Chicago Blackhawks lead the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0 in the series with Game 2 Saturday night at Amalie Arena.

From the Tampa Tribune:

As the conference finals neared the end last month, Baker and Neal agreed to get the tattoos if their favorite teams advanced to the championship series.

“We work with each other so much that we’re like brothers, so you could say it’s a brotherly competition,” said Baker, who manages Atomic Tattoos, on West Waters Avenue, and hired Neal last year.

According to Baker, the Blackhawks fan, no matter how the series ends the loser will keep his tattoo so they’ll have a story to tell years down the line. That and one of them could also re-draw the 5 should the losing team win a Cup in the next several years.
