No. 1 Star: Jared McCann, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL)

McCann led an amazing special teams effort by the Greyhounds against the London Knights. Of their four special teams goals, the Vancouver Canucks first-round pick was in on three of them, including both short-handed markers. He notched his first point of the night late in the second period when he set up a Blake Speers (1G-2A, +2) goal on the penalty kill. He really went to town in the final frame by scoring a short-handed marker and a power-play goal in the 4-0 win.

Rookie netminder Joseph Raaymakers posted his second shutout of his young OHL career with a 35-save effort.

No. 2 Star: Danny Moynihan, Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)

The Boston, MA., native found a way to beat Calgary Flames second-round pick Mason McDonald three times in a 5-0 win against the Charlottetown Islanders. It all started just 3:26 into the game when Winnipeg Jets pick Nikolaj Ehlers (3A, +2) set him up for a goal. He went on to net a goal in each of the remaining periods to complete his hat trick.

Just days away from Canada’s world junior tryout camp, Montreal Canadiens prospect Zachary Fucale stopped all 28 shots that came his way for his second perfect effort on the year.

No. 3 Star: Axel Blomqvist, Victoria Royals (WHL)

While awaiting the verdict on whether he will suit up for Sweden at the world junior championship, Blomqvist potted a hat trick in a 6-3 win against the Saskatoon Blades. The 6-foot-6, 212-pound winger scored a crucial goal early in the second period to tie the game up at one. Following netting his second on the power play just 30 seconds into the third period, he killed the Bridge City Boys’ hopes of a comeback with his third of the night at the 16:29 mark.

Honourable mention: Connor Rankin, Calgary Hitmen (WHL)

Rankin lit the lamp three times in a rivalry game against the Edmonton Oil Kings. The overage started the 6-2 affair with a power-play goal at the 11:55 mark in the first period before going on to score his second of the night in the first half of the middle frame. He wrapped up the game with the last goal of the contest at the 10:36 mark in the third period just after the Oil Kings scored back-to-back goals.

Honourable mention: Trevor Cox, Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL)

Cox led the Tigers to a 5-2 win against the Everett Silvertips with a four-point effort. After setting up a Cole Sanford (1G, +3) short-handed goal, he put away one of his own on the man advantage to close out the opening frame. He completed his hat trick with an even-strength goal in the second period and an empty-netter with 34 seconds left in the match.

Honourable mention: Marc-Oliver Roy, Quebec Remparts (QMJHL)

The Edmonton Oilers second-round pick had a hot stick against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada as all three of his shots found the back of the net. Following scoring even-strength and power-play markers in the first period, Roy completed his hat trick with a snipe in the latter half of the third period. He went on to assist Dmytro Timashov’s (2G-2A, +4) empty-net goal in the 6-3 win.
