Team Canada has had ‘no discussion’ about Jonathan Drouin being replaced at selection camp — report
Two seasons ago, Team Canada left a light on for Jonathan Huberdeau after the Saint John Sea Dogs star broke his foot blocking a shot. So it would logically follow that it is prepared to do the same with another East Coast-based 18-year-old playmaker who went No. 3 overall in the NHL draft to a Florida-based team and answers to Jo.
(That's like junior hockey's equivalent to the Lincoln-Kennedy comparison.)
There is, thank you Mr. Armchair Doctor, more uncertainty with Jonathan Drouin's brain injury than there would be with a broken bone. But on Sunday night, Gare Joyce of ESPN and Sportsnet sent out a string of tweets indicating that the brain injury Drouin might only led to him missing the selection camp.
From Joyce (@GareJoyceNHL):
So far no discussion in Hockey Canada ranks re replacing Drouin in the selection camp.

It looks like Hockey Canada might even give Drouin a week's grace up to cuts before considering the possible necessity of a roster move. — Gare Joyce (@GareJoyceNHL) December 9, 2013
Hockey Canada saying that mgt team is getting preliminary signals that it might not be dire with Drouin, but way too early 4 conclusions.

Please keep in mind that reflects the consensus on Monday morning. A lot can change by the time Team Canada's camp convenes on Thursday in Toronto.
@GareJoyceNHL Have to think discussions heat up as week goes on. — Terry Koshan (@koshtorontosun) December 9, 2013
Feel free to discuss among yourselves whom Hockey Canada considers the 16th-best teenage forward in Canada. It would be preferable for their gold medal hopes if Drouin returns and that remains classified.
