No. 1 Star: Troy Timpano, Sudbury Wolves (OHL)

In a night where six goalies posted shutouts in the CHL, Timpano’s performance was the cream of the crop for more reasons than one. The 17-year-old sophomore posted a 43-save effort against the Windsor Spitfires for his first perfect game in the OHL and the struggling Wolves’ sixth win on the year. His best 20-minute showing in the 3-0 win came in the third period when he stopped 18 pucks. It was a bounce-back effort for the Pickering, Ont., native as he let four of 12 shots sneak by him in his previous game against the Mississauga Steelheads.

Chad Heffernan (1G-1A, +2) gave Sudbury a huge confidence boost in the first period by scoring a short-handed marker. Matt Schmalz gave the Wolves some breathing room in the middle frame by netting one on the power play before Danny Desrochers potted an empty-net goal with three seconds left in the contest.

No. 2 Star: Christian Dvorak, London Knights (OHL)

The Arizona Coyotes prospect (3A-2A, +1) was here, there and everywhere for the Knights. He was in on all of London’s goals except Julius Bergman’s empty-netter in the last minute of play in a 6-4 victory over the Plymouth Whalers. He got the ball rolling against Whalers by netting the first goal of the game on the power play early in the opening frame. After assisting a Mitchell Marner (1G-3A, +2) snipe late in the first, Dvorak, 18, scored a pair of goals and set up Montreal Canadiens first-rounder Michael McCarron (1G-2A, -1) on the power play.

The Palos, IL., native’s outstanding showing comes shortly after he was left off the United States’ preliminary world junior roster. He didn’t make the cut even though he has been a scoring machine for the Knights this year with 21 goals and 50 points in 29 matches.

No. 3 Star: Dominic Turgeon, Portland Winterhawks (WHL)

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound centre (1G-2A, +2) stepped up for the Winterhawks even though they went on to blow a two-goal in a 4-3 loss to the Spokane Chiefs. He sniped his 10th on the year late in the first period following setting up a Blake Heinrich marker earlier in the frame. The Detroit Red Wings prospect notched his second helper in the middle frame on a Miles Koules goal.

The Yamamoto brothers, Kailer and Keanu, came up big for the Chiefs in their comeback win with a goal and an assist apiece. But all of the Chiefs were rolling as they put 53 pucks on Winterhawks goalie Adin Hill.

Honourable mention: Alex DeBrincat, Erie Otters (OHL)

DeBrincat (1G-3A, +2) showed he can get the job done without Connor McDavid, who is at Team Canada’s world junior tryout, by his side in a 6-4 win over the Saginaw Spirit. The Detroit native kicked off the night with monstrous opening frame. He tied the game up at one at the 4:03 mark before setting up goals from Taylor Raddysh and Kurtis MacDermid. He went on to notch his third helper on a Travis Dermott goal in the second period on the man advantage.
