Stay Classy, Winnipeg: Will Ferrell channels Ron Burgundy to promote the Roar Of The Rings

If Ron Burgundy actually shows up at the "Roar Of The Rings," in Winnipeg, next week, that would be some kind of coup for curling.

And it would also be testament to the fact that actor Will Ferrell - who plays Burgundy - is willing to stop at just about nothing in order to promote the upcoming release of "Anchorman 2."

In a video that was pulled fairly quickly after it first appeared on Youtube, today (it most certainly will be reborn during TSN's Grey Cup coverage) Ferrell sips from a vintage Tim Horton's mug and invites the city of Winnipeg to be "ready to paint the town burgundy."

Ferrell is wearing a burgundy blazer adorned with TSN's old logo.

The promo does invite curling fans to "catch Ron Burgundy live at the Roar Of the Rings, Sunday December 1st at 2."

Could Ferrell actually show up in Winnipeg next Sunday for a little curling fun/movie promotion? Or will he appear by satellite from a California studio, circa 1985?

Seems there are bigger plans for Burgundy, as CTV is trumpeting his addition to the TSN team for the entire month of December.

Whatever the plan, Roar competitors ought to embrace the spirit of time travel and go whole hog on make-up and hairpieces in order to bring out their inner Burgundys.

We know that each of Glenn Howard, Kevin Martin and Jeff Stoughton have all had their past Burgundy style phases.

If Brad Jacobs really wants to get into the spirit, he could go all cornbroom and cableknit sweater-like and channel a little Al Hackner.

Jennifer Jones, Rachel Homan and Heather Nedohin could help out with a perm or feathering job on their hair and maybe slide a couple of nice, big shoulder pads under their curling jackets.
