Instead of showing a Tiger-Cats’ touchdown, TSN cuts to…Chris Berman?

It's been long-established that ESPN's Chris Berman is a big fan of the CFL (see this piece on Anthony Calvillo for an example), but you don't expect to see him suddenly appear on a game broadcast in the middle of a scoring play. That's exactly what happened during Friday night's Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats clash, though. With the Tiger-Cats leading 14-7 early in the second quarter and facing a first-and-goal situation with the ball near the Alouettes' eight-yard line, quarterback Henry Burris took the snap, dropped back and threw a bullet to Andy Fantuz for Hamilton's third touchdown of the night. Just as Fantuz leaned across the goal line, though, the TSN broadcast decided to go for something completely different:

Yes, that's Chris Berman talking about songs that would make good NFL soundtracks. Fortunately for CFL fans, the switch only lasted about seven seconds, and they were able to quickly see Fantuz's touchdown on the replay. It's still a hilarious goof from the production side, though, and unfortunately for TSN, it's one that came on a night when plenty of CFL fans were already upset at them for the delay in getting to the game. (Both TSN and TSN2 elected to show the conclusion of the Ryder Cup U.S.-Europe golf clash, meaning that while Tiger Woods' final-putt miss was seen all over Canada, the early minutes of the CFL game were not.) These screwups do happen, and in the grand scheme of things, this is far more funny moment than national crisis. You bet TSN wishes they could take it back-back-back-back, though...
