Grey Cup breaks during Stampeders' celebration, for the second time in three years (photos)

Apparently, having the Calgary Stampeders in the Grey Cup game is bad news for the trophy itself, as they managed to break the Cup during the celebration of their 20-16 win over Hamilton Sunday. That's the second time in three years the trophy's been broken following a game involving Calgary, as Toronto Argonauts' defensive lineman Adriano Belli broke the Cup in 2012 during his team's celebrations after they beat the Stampeders. Of course, the Cup's been broken before (notably in 2006 during the B.C. Lions' celebration of their win over Montreal, one where the Stampeders' participation can't be blamed), but it's still unusual to see this happen twice in three years, and both in games involving Calgary. Above, you can see a photo of the top portion of the cup (the original trophy commissioned by Earl Grey in 1909) separating from its base as Stampeders' linebacker Juwan Simpson raised it in celebration.
