CFL free agency deadline live chat

There's plenty of hype around this year's free agency deadline in the CFL, and for good reason. While some pending free agents such as Khalif Mitchell have already signed new deals with their current teams and others like Justin Hickman have left for the NFL, there are still plenty of big names such as Canadian wide receiver Andy Fantuz (the CFL's receiving leader in 2010), guard Brendon LaBatte, defensive tackle Aaron Hunt and offensive tackle Rob Murphy out there. All could be crucial acquisitions that could help their new teams make a run at the 2012 Grey Cup and beyond. Moreover, teams like Edmonton and Hamilton have shed significant salary since the 2011 campaign ended and may be looking at free agency as a key part of their plans to fortify their teams for 2012.

February's free agency moves could have considerable repercussions for the entire 2012 CFL season and beyond, and wisely given the anticipation for this year's signings, the league has moved the deadline up to Wednesday at noon Eastern. We'll be covering it all, so come stop by at noon Eastern for a live blog of the first hour of the free agency period; we'll also have more coverage of the free agent signings as they progress both at 55-Yard Line and the Yahoo!
