Player Notes
Giancarlo Stanton underwent successful surgery on Sunday to repair a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist.

Advice: He'll be sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks, which puts his return to the Marlins lineup in early August. Ichiro Suzuki appears to be the most likely beneficiary of additional playing time in his absence.

Marlins placed OF Giancarlo Stanton on the 15-day disabled list with a left wrist hamate fracture.

Advice: Stanton will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks with the injury and is expected to return to the Marlins at some point in early August. Look for Ichiro Suzuki to see increased time in the outfield while Stanton is sidelined.

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that Giancarlo Stanton will undergo surgery to repair a broken hamate bone in his left hand.

Advice: Stanton will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks, but the encouraging news is that there was no ligament damage found. Expect him to return to the Marlins lineup at some point in early August.

Tim Kurkjian of ESPN reports that Giancarlo Stanton will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken bone in his left hand.

Advice: It's a very tough blow for the Marlins and fantasy owners alike. Hand injuries have notoriously sapped players of their power stroke upon returning as well, so it's unknown what version of Stanton will appear upon his return. The 25-year-old was in the midst of a monstrous season, slashing .265/.346/.606 with a league-leading 27 home runs and 67 RBI.

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that Giancarlo Stanton will have a CT scan and MRI on his injured left hand.

Advice: Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reported earlier in the day that Stanton had a broken bone in his hand. Frisaro adds that Stanton has so much swelling in his hand that the X-rays were unable to determine the full extent of the injury. While there's no clear timetable for how much time he may miss, a few weeks seems to be the best case scenario.

Sat, 27 Jun Rotoworld
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Giancarlo Stanton has a broken bone in his left hand.

Advice: Rosenthal notes that exact details on the situation are not yet known. It's obviously a devastating blow to the Marlins and to fantasy owners if Stanton is facing any sort of extended absence. He experienced increased soreness in his hand while swinging during Friday's game. The Marlins should give clarity to his situation on Saturday, but fantasy owners need to prepare themselves for an extended absence.

Giancarlo Stanton is set to undergo X-rays on his left hand on Saturday.

Advice: Stanton experienced increased soreness in his left palm as Friday's game went on and indicated that it hurt the most on swings and misses. Consider the slugger day-to-day for now, but the Marlins should have an update on his status on Saturday.
