Player Notes
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports hears that Giancarlo Stanton (groin) could return for the final week of the regular season if things go "absolutely perfect."

Advice: The report backs up what Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill said a week ago about Stanton holding out hope for a late-season return. It's certainly good news for the club, although it's just speculation at this point with Stanton still shut down from baseball activities. The slugger suffered a Grade 3 groin strain two weeks ago.

Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill said Sunday that Giancarlo Stanton (groin) plans to return to the Marlins before the end of the regular season.

Advice: Stanton was diagnosed with a grade 3 groin strain in mid-August, and was expected to miss at least six weeks. If he comes in at the low end of that range, he could return in the final week of the season, where he hopes to help push the Marlins into the postseason. It should still be considered a long shot, but perhaps the Marlins' star slugger isn't quite finished for 2016.
