Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) will not rejoin the Yankees on Friday as had been anticipated.

Advice: Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Thursday that Ellsbury is still trying to get his legs in baseball shape. It seems likely that he'll continue on his minor league rehab assignment with High-A Tampa through the weekend before rejoining the Bombers next week.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) could still be activated on Friday even after sitting out Tuesday's rehab game because of fatigue.

Advice: "I guess the running we've done the last couple of days has kind of worn him out," Girardi said Tuesday. "And it's not only in the one leg, it's in both legs. So we'll give him a day off today and hopefully he's back in there tomorrow." Ellsbury went 0-for-3 in his first rehab contest on Monday but needs to play at least a game or two in center field before being activated.

Jacoby Ellsbury (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Tampa on Monday.

Advice: He was cleared for game action after working out with the Yankees over the weekend with no issues. Ellsbury will be used in the designated hitter spot for Tampa on Monday and is slated for 3-4 plate appearances.
