    Soccer jersey dispute between Algeria and Morocco clubs over Western Sahara goes to sports court

    A soccer politics dispute between Algeria and Morocco over a map of disputed Western Sahara territory on a team jersey will go to a full appeal hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The Algerian soccer federation and the USM Alger club from Algiers are challenging a decision by the Confederation of African Football to let Moroccan club RS Berkane wear a team jersey that includes disputed territory on a map of Morocco. The dispute already affected the teams’ semifinal of the CAF Confederation Cup, in which USM Alger is the defending champion.

    PSG defender Hernandez needs surgery after rupturing ACL and set to miss Euro 2024

    PARIS (AP) — Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Hernandez will have surgery after rupturing his left knee ACL, almost certainly ruling him out of playing for France at the European Championship. Hernandez was injured on Wednesday night during the Champions League semifinal first leg against Borussia Dortmund, which PSG lost 1-0 in Germany.     LONDON (AP) — Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali was suspended for two months for breaching betting rules, the English Football Association said on Thursday. Tonali is already serving a 10-month ban issued by the Italian federation for betting on teams he played for, which has ruled him out of action since October.
