Liverpool have rejected a £16m offer from Ipswich Town for Ben Doak, the bid coming shortly after Crystal Palace's opening £15m offer, and the 19-year-old Scotland winger's parent club would prefer him to remain on loan to Middlesbrough for the rest of the season. Everton manager Sean Dyche says out-of-favour Scotland right-back Nathan Patterson will not be allowed to leave on loan unless a replacement is brought in.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has said he has "no problem" with James Maddison after the playmaker spent Sunday night watching World Championship darts despite reporting ill for the Wolves game earlier in the day. Maddison received criticism on social media after being pictured with Spurs team-mate Brennan Johnson at Alexandra Palace. The 28-year-old had come on as a substitute in the 64th minute of the 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Postecoglou's side dropped to 12th in the table going into Saturday's Premier League game against Newcastle.
West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui has praised Luis Guilherme's "very, very good" mentality as he backed the 18-year-old Brazilian to help replace the injured Jarrod Bowen. Forward Guilherme has played just 20 minutes of football in three substitute appearances for the Hammers so far, but is now set to feature more with Bowen out for up to six weeks and Michail Antonio a long-term absentee. West Ham go into Saturday's game at Manchester City 13th in the Premier League, eight points above the relegation places.
Enzo Maresca has said Levi Colwill has the potential to be a future captain of Chelsea. Fellow defender Reece James currently wears the armband but has missed large parts of the season because of injury. The club skipper's absence has left Maresca searching for alternative leaders, and he namechecked 21-year-old Colwill on Friday.
