    Apollo 8 Astronaut William Anders Killed in Plane Crash

    Apollo 8 astronaut Maj. General William Anders, who took the famous Earthrise photo showing the planet from space in 1968, was killed Friday when the plane he was piloting went down into the waters off the San Juan Islands in Washington State.
