Rashford’s revelation that he is ready for a ‘new challenge’ looks set to bring an end to a 20-year love story with Manchester United after a rollercoaster decade in the first team
The winger is set to register for the club on January 1
Twenty-two goals and 11 assists in 122 Manchester City games does not tell the story of Georgi Kinkladze's importance. As my colleague Marc Higginson wrote on this page last week, Kinkladze was perceived as "a genius in the Lionel Messi mode" for his bewildering close control, mesmeric dribbles and memorable goals. For the neutral football fan in the 1990s, Kinkladze was mentioned in the same breath as the stars of the day, albeit with the caveat that this was Manchester City - and quite simply anything can happen.
Two months later, the on-loan Wrexham forward is the Scottish Premiership's top scorer with eight, which have come in his past nine games. Where that tally becomes more impressive is when you factor in his goals-per-minute ratio of 121 - the sixth best record in the entire top flight. The 25-year-old has also racked up that total from just 11 starts, plus the fact he has eight goals from an expected goals (xG) rating of six highlights his ability to make the most of his chances.
