RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Martin Necas scored late in regulation and again in overtime, and the Carolina Hurricanes topped the San Jose Sharks 5-4 on Friday night. Necas tied it at 4 when he got his 20th goal of the season with 11.5 seconds left in the third period. Then he beat James Reimer again 55 seconds into overtime. "It was a great finish,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. Necas scored an overtime winner for the second game in a row, also accomplishing the feat Wednesday night at Dallas. H
“I would be nice to win one game without overtime,” Hurricanes goalie Antti Raanta joked, but Martin Necas had a counterpoint. “Isn’t it more fun?” He might just be right.
After the Sharks scored an empty-net goal with 1:52 to play, the Canes scored twice in the final two minutes of regulation, and Necas’ winner came just 55 seconds into the extra period.
