Player Notes
Matt Carpenter is not in the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday.

Advice: It's simply a routine day of rest. Daniel Descalso is at third base in Carpenter's place, while Kolten Wong is holding down the leadoff spot. Peter Bourjos is also sitting out, with Jon Jay handling center field.

Matt Carpenter was ejected from Monday's game against the Brewers for arguing a called strike three.

Advice: Carpenter had a beef, as the ball was clearly outside. Home plate umpire Bob Davidson had been calling the pitch a strike all night and evidently didn't care for Carpenter objecting to his poor zone. Daniel Descalso replaced Carpenter at third base.
