Player Notes
Matt Carpenter finished 4-for-5 with three runs scored Monday afternoon against the Brewers.

Advice: Carpenter singled in his first two at-bats and then doubled to the right-field wall in his next two before striking out in the top of the ninth against Brewers reliever David Goforth. The brand new father has an .883 OPS with 14 doubles and 32 runs scored in 49 games this season for St. Louis.

Cardinals placed 3B Matt Carpenter on the paternity leave list.

Advice: Carpenter's wife went into labor with the couple's first child ahead of Wednesday afternoon's series finale against the Cubs. He could miss the Cardinals' entire four-game series in Washington, D.C. Greg Garcia was called up Thursday in a corresponding roster move to provide infield depth.

Thu, 26 May Rotoworld
Matt Carpenter is out of the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday because his wife is about to have a baby.

Advice: It seemed odd that the Cards would rest their best left-handed hitter against Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta. Now we have a good reason for the absence. Ruben Tejada is starting at third base and batting eighth in the afternoon tilt at Busch Stadium. Kolten Wong will take a turn at leadoff.
