Player Notes
USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Rangers "continue to be the most aggressive team" in the pursuit of Chris Sale.

Advice: Nightengale says the White Sox are asking for Joey Gallo and Nomar Mazara in any deal involving Sale and it doesn't appear they're willing to budge. You can understand why their asking price would be so sky-high, but it's also understandable why the Rangers are declining. Sale still seems unlikely to be traded before the deadline, although a lot can change between now and Monday afternoon.

Chris Sale allowed two runs over six innings in a loss to the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: Sale, making his first start in 10 days after being scratched and ultimately suspended for five games for his actions prior to last Sunday's scheduled start, looked rusty early, allowing runs in two of the first three innings before settling down. He gave up six hits and three walks in total while striking out four. Sale fell to 14-4 with the loss. He'll sport a 3.17 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 133/32 K/BB ratio heading into Wednesday's start against the Tigers.

White Sox reinstated LHP Chris Sale from suspension.

Advice: Sale was handed a five-game suspension from the White Sox on Sunday after taking a knife to throwback jerseys that he did not want to wear. The incident led to the White Sox scratching him from his scheduled start Saturday against the Tigers, so he'll be working on nine days of rest in his return Thursday versus the Cubs.

Chris Sale will make his return Thursday against the Cubs.

Advice: The White Sox suspended Sale for five games after he cut up some throwback uniforms with a knife as a bizarre form of protest. There's a chance that Thursday could be a final start with the White Sox, as the trade deadline is approaching and there has been quite a bit of a chatter about a possible deal. Of course, it would require a monster haul for Chicago to part with him and they might not see the sort of offers they want.

The White Sox have suspended Chris Sale five games for his conduct in a clubhouse incident prior to Saturday's game.

Advice: Sale cut up some throwback uniforms with a knife after getting into a heated argument with the front office about not wanting to wear the uniforms Saturday. The left-hander is tentatively slated to rejoin the White Sox' rotation on Thursday against the Cubs. General manager Rick Hahn said that the incident won't affect the club's decision on whether to trade the lefty or not, although that could just be GM speak.

MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports that Chris Sale is not expected to be at the ballpark on Sunday.

Advice: Sale was scratched from Saturday's start and sent home after a run-in with the front office regarding throwback uniforms that he didn't want to wear. The White Sox have listed him as the scheduled starter on Thursday against the Cubs, although that could be tentative. Sale has also been mentioned as a trade candidate.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura on Saturday wouldn't say when Chris Sale would make his next start.

Advice: Sale was scratched from Saturday's start and sent home after a dust-up with the front office regarding throwback uniforms that he didn't want to wear. "I'll talk about the game, but any of that stuff, we'll wait on that," Ventura said. "I'm not going to discuss what went on in there. But (it's) unfortunate he didn't start tonight. Proud of the guys who filled in." Jose Quintana will start as scheduled on Sunday. Miguel Gonzalez is currently slated to take the ball Monday, although that seems like a spot Sale could easily slide into, assuming he and the front office work out their issues. The left-hander might be traded prior to the deadline.

Tommy Stokke of FanRag Sports reports Chris Sale was sent home from U.S. Cellular Field on Saturday after cutting up throwback jerseys that he did not want to wear.

Advice: This story takes another fascinating turn. Via FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal: "Sale asked that they not wear (throwbacks) on his day because they are uncomfortable. Things escalated when they wouldn't relent." Sale went after the jerseys with a knife during pregame batting practice, and then apparently exchanged some words with members of the White Sox front office for putting merchandise sales ahead of winning. He could be traded before the August 1 deadline, though that wouldn't really have anything to do with this odd incident. Matt Albers is starting in Sale's place on Saturday night against the Tigers.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick hears the Chris Sale clubhouse incident was with front office staff.

Advice: Crasnick says the incident began with something "silly" and blew up into a bigger argument. It did not get physical, per a press release from the club, but the words exchanged were serious enough to cause the White Sox to scratch their ace from his scheduled start Saturday night against the Tigers. Matt Albers is going to take the mound instead versus Detroit.

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, the White Sox are talking to teams about Chris Sale.

Advice: That's not exactly breaking news -- trade rumors have swirled around Sale for weeks -- but Passan's report is relevant because those discussions are ongoing even after the ace left-hander was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday against the Tigers because of a pregame clubhouse incident. We don't have any details about that incident, only that it was non-physical and did not cause an injury. This could be a very busy night for Sale's Rotoworld profile.
