Martin's last Sprint Cup victory came at Kansas in 2005. He has posted three top-six finishes in the seven races at the 1.5-mile facility. Martin has finished eighth, sixth, fifth and fourth in his last four races. Martin said Kansas is "one of the tracks that really suit my driving style well. I'm looking forward to this weekend."
Martin thought he had a real shot at winning his first race in almost three years when the green flag was waved with 45 laps to go. "I was up on the wheel and I gave it everything I had," said Martin. "But we were just a little short." Martin ended up fourth. "Man, this thing was awesome on long runs; it was really coming before that last caution. I just couldn't run with those guys for about 20 laps."
Martin said he "left Dover feeling like I let the guys down with that run. We had a good finish, but we had a car good enough to win the race."
