Sinkhole Swallows Fairway at Utah Golf Course

A group of golfers discovered a large sinkhole opening on a fairway at Fox Hollow Golf Club in American Fork, Utah, on Saturday, May 20.

Video shared to TikTok by Jake Ebert shows rushing water inside the sinkhole. Local media reported that the golf course suspected the sinkhole emerged due debris getting stuck in piping.

“We think a tree from the river got jammed into our pipe, and the water expanded through the pipe, and that’s what caused that,” Jaxson Taylor from Fox Hollow Golf Club told KSLTV.

Ebert is seen in the video dangling his feet over the rapid waters in the sinkhole. Seperate video recorded by Ebert shows the section of the fairway he was previously standing on collapse.

“It didn’t seem scary to sit on the ledge at the time but later watching the video back it was kind [of] insane,” Ebert told Storyful.

Ebert said that the moment did not manage to affect his party’s game.

“I will say despite the distraction, we did still land a couple on the green,” he said. Credit: Jacob Ebert via Storyful

[LAUGHTER]

- Oh!

- Oh!

- Well these Utah golf courses cannot take this winter, and all this snow, and water runoff. Literally breaking away and corroding, as we speak, as people walk on it. Whoa, whoa. Oh wow. There may not be much more of this par 3 left soon.
