'Schitt's Creek' wins big at 'Pandemmys' hosted by Jimmy Kimmel

The '72nd Primetime Emmy Awards' took place Sunday night honoring the best in prime time television. While most of the show took place in the winners' homes due to COVID-19 quarantine, the night kicked off in an empty theater with host Jimmy Kimmel and a few cardboard cutouts. "Welcome to the Pandemmys. It's great to finally see people again. Thank you for risking everything to be here. Thank me for risking everything to be here. You know what they say, you can't have a virus without a host," joked Kimmel in his opening monologue. The host later added: "Of course I'm here all alone. Of course we don't have an audience. This isn't a MAGA rally, it's the Emmys. Instead of a live audience, we took a page from baseball and filled the seats with cardboard cutouts of the nominees." 'Schitt's Creek' completely dominated, winning seven emmys – every award in the comedy category. Other big winners of the night included 'Watchmen' and 'Succession,' the latter of which also took home the top honor for "Outstanding Drama Series." Many people used their speeches to make political statements, and the creator of 'Succession' used his time to un-thank a few people. "Un-thank you to Trump for his crummy and uncoordinated response, un-thank you to Boris Johnson and his government for doing the same in my country, un-thank you to all the nationalist and quasi-nationalist governments in the world that are exactly the opposite of what we need right now and un-thank you to the media moguls who do so much to keep them in power. So un-thank you," stated Jesse Armstrong. However, one of the best moments of the night, which had viewers totally pivoting, was finding out that some of our favorite 'Friends' are still living under one roof, as Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow unexpectedly appeared on screen alongside Jennifer Aniston. Okay, just kidding, they don't really live together. But it was a mini reunion that we all very much needed.
