Sacramento County no longer allowed to house foster youth in unlicensed facility

Sacramento County can no longer continue operating a former detention facility to house foster youth. The county's application to continue running the unlicensed Warren E. Thornton Youth Center was denied, and officials will now need to find a new location to house the foster youth currently living there. Sacramento County had housed at least a dozen at-risk kids in both a county-owned office building and then in another facility known as a WET Center, a building initially called a former detention center but then was later referred to as a probation center.
