Report by California First Partner, advocates details impact of social media on youth

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and as it comes to an end, calls for more policies to hold tech companies accountable the impact social media has on youth increases. A report released by California First Partner Jennifer Seibel Newsom and the California Partners Project shows the effect of social media on teens, especially among girls. "This is 24/7 in children's faces – the plastic surgery culture, all the filters, just manufactured imagery that frankly is perpetuating these harmful gender stereotypes and norms," the first partner told KCRA 3.
