Toronto Raptors forward Pascal Siakam met with the media after his team’s loss to the Detroit Pistons. He talked about how Scottie Barnes is taking care of his body, how he approaches back-to-backs, and Dwane Casey’s strong record against Toronto.

- Hey, Pascal, thanks for stopping by. Scottie was just in, and he was talking about-- he's having a hard time with his body coming back from the COVID and the knee and his-- you know, it's a rookie year. Everything's piling up. How, as a veteran, can you help him through that? Or can you help him through this difficult time?
PASCAL SIAKAM: I mean, I think, again, like we all-- everyone that's been in the league, you know that. You know, like you're going to get a little wall, like, you know, coming in. It's not college anymore. You play a lot of games, and it takes a toll on your body.
And I think that, as young and talented as he is, he just got to do the little things. I think he's been doing that. I mean, I see him in the cold tub. I see him trying to take care of his body.
I think he's kind of advanced compared to me when I came in. Like, I didn't want to stretch or do anything. So it's like, I think that just the little things, like continuing to take your body and there's going to be bumps and bruises.
And it comes with the territory. And I think that all we can do is just continue to make sure that he takes care of his body and do the little things, like the extra things-- you know, lifting and just staying active. And days where we don't practice, just active recovery or anything that you need to make sure your body is fresh because, again, we all know what that's like because we've been through it.

MIKE GANTER: Hi, Pascal, how are you doing?
PASCAL SIAKAM: I'm good. How are you doing?
MIKE GANTER: Good. I'm not even sure you can answer this, but Dwane's now 8 and 3 against you guys since he left. You guys statistically come in-- probably have the edge in most of these games, but there's a real discrepancy there. Why do you-- you got any theory as to why his teams get up for you guys so much?
PASCAL SIAKAM: I don't know, to be honest. I mean, I think we take each game as they come. I don't think we-- I didn't even know that stat. But we take each game as it come.
You know, they came out. They kind of threw the first punch. And we weren't really, like-- you know, we didn't bring the fight in the beginning. I think we played better as the game went on. But sometimes just giving the team confidence, you know, is-- it carries through the game.
So I think we got to come out a little bit more focused in the beginning and not come and, like, try to catch on-- catch up while the game is going. So yeah, again, hopefully we have another time to play, and we can play better against them. But I think that they played better today.

- Hey, Pascal, I'm just wondering on a back-to-back obviously in a game where you couldn't pull it out tonight, does your mind ever drift to tomorrow night and think about the number of minutes you're playing and just trying to wonder how to manage what's going to be a tight game tomorrow as well?
PASCAL SIAKAM: Not really. I think we just take every night as they come. And we're professional. We know that we have back-to-backs.
You just got to make sure you try to take your body-- take care of your body as much as you can. But at the end of the day, those games are coming. There ain't no running from it.
