Ariel Epstein shares her top DFS plays for the NBA slate on Wednesday, Dec. 29
ARIEL EPSTEIN: Welcome to Yahoo Fantasy. I'm Ariel Epstein. Today, in the NBA, I have two and a half plays to give out. You'll see what I mean in the value play. However, first, let's go to my must-play.
My must-play tonight, for $39, I am paying up for Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert. Gobert is up against the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland's had some COVID issues, especially to their centers. Three of the centers are out on this team, including their starting center Jusuf Nurkic. In the last game where Portland played without Nurkic, they played against the Dallas Mavericks, and their center Kristaps Porzingis went off for 34 points and nine rebounds. Overall, this year, Portland has allowed for just under 112 points per game, which ranks fifth-most in the NBA. That number has actually gone up in the last 10 to 115 points allowed per game. Points in the paint, well, they're pretty bad at it too. 11th-most points in the paint allowed to opponents for Portland, and that number of just over 47 points has gone up in the last three games to just under 53 points per game allowed in the paint. I'm going with Rudy Gobert tonight in my lineup.
For my value play, this is where that two and a half plays came in, solely because I have no idea if the Boston Celtics' point guard Marcus Smart is going to play tonight. He has a lacerated hand, however, he's only $21. Jayson Tatum, the leading scorer on the Celtics, is out due to COVID protocols. Somebody has to step up. I'd love for it to be Smart, because the Clippers are without their leading scorer and their best player, the All-Star Paul George. Without Paul George this year, the Clippers have been allowing for 16 points, four rebounds, and just under five assists to opposing point guards. There has been a game already where the Clippers and the Boston Celtics have played without Paul George, and that was back on December 8, where Smart put up 16 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
If Marcus Smart does not play, then, for $15, you can put Payton Pritchard in your lineup. He's at great value, especially for a player that just had a game without Smart and Tatum, and he put up 24 points, eight rebounds, six assists. Either Pritchard or Smart, depending on who's active in the game, make sure to put them in your lineup for a value play tonight.
Here's your NBA DFS recap. I'm playing the Jazz center Rudy Gobert for $39. I'm also playing one of the point guards for Boston, whether it's Marcus Smart, or, if he's out, put Payton Pritchard in for your value play. That's it for me, the prop queen, Ariel Epstein, here at Yahoo Fantasy. Good luck tonight.
