Los Angeles is looking for a three-game sweep of its first home series this season, and Dodgers starters are 5-0 in their last seven outings. The Dodgers have won five of their last six regular-season games against the Nationals and are 11-4 versus Washington over the past four seasons. But the Nats beat Los Angeles in a five-game playoff series on the way to their 2019 title. LIKE THOSE LEFTIES AL MVP José Abreu and the Chicago White Sox will try to win their 18th straight game when facing a left-handed starter. CALGARY — It took Sean Monahan breaking out of his goal-scoring slump to set the offensive tone for the Calgary Flames. Monahan snapped a 13-game goalless drought and ignited Calgary’s offence as the Flames defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 on Saturday. Backed by a 17-save shutout by Jacob Markstrom, the Flames (17-21-3) halted their four-game losing skid with their largest win of the season. “I put a lot of pressure on myself to be a go-to guy, somebody who will provide offence,” said Monahan, who had not scored since March 13. “When you’re not doing that, it gets frustrating. “When you don’t score for a while, and obviously it was the first one of the game, it feels good.” After a scoreless first period, Monahan got the first in a barrage of goals for the Flames in the second. Alone at the side of the net, he capitalized on a defensive mix-up from the Oilers and converted Andrew Mangiapane’s pass at 3:12. “Monny’s one of the best goal-scorers this organization’s ever seen,” said Johnny Gaudreau, who had a goal and an assist in the win. “It’s nice to see him score, obviously. “When he has the puck on his stick, he has the chance to put the puck in the net every night.” Monahan’s tally was the first of four goals for Calgary on 10 shots in the second period. Calgary gained in confidence as the period progressed. Bichette had two-run doubles in the third and fourth, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added RBI singles in both innings as the Blue Jays went up 14-1. Jeff Carter also scored and Jonathan Quick made 26 saves as the Kings beat the Sharks for just the second time in eight meetings this season. Dylan Gambrell and Timo Meier scored for the Sharks, who now trail St. Louis by four points for the fourth and final playoff spot from the West Division. Arizona is three points ahead of the Sharks for fifth place. Martin Jones came in 19-5-3 in his career — including 6-1 this season — gave up four goals on 19 shot through two periods. Josef Korenar stopped all seven shots he faced in the third in his NHL debut. With the score 1-1 after the first period, Athanasiou and Iafallo scored 55 seconds apart early in the second, and then Brown beat Jones for a power play goal with 7.8 seconds left in the period to give the Kings a 4-1 cushion.
