Melvin Gordon leads list of fantasy tumbles at NFL Draft

Yahoo Fantasy analyst Liz Loza examines the three biggest fantasy losers after the first two days of the 2021 NFL Draft

LIZ LOZA: I don't like being a pessimist, but I am a realist. And there's no denying that after the first two days of the 2021 NFL Draft there were some players whose fantasy stocks were negatively impacted. The first was a bit of a surprise. Denver traded up at the top of the second round to draft the tackle breaking machine Javonte Williams out of USC.

Hold up, Melvin Gordon, who was the RB12 overall in fantasy in 2020, averaged over 16 touches per game interestingly entering the last year of his deal in Denver. So clearly, the Broncos wanted some fresh legs in that backfield. Also, we're talking running backs. I mean, my goodness. Just brutal for James Robinson, who was the RB7 overall in fantasy last year.

He averaged over 20 touches per game. But whoa, Jacksonville used a first round pick to draft Travis Etienne, reuniting the electric speedster, the running back who has developed into an incredible pass catcher in his final year at Clemson with his former Clemson teammate Trevor Lawrence. So yeah, I don't think it's likely that Robinson gets near that kind of volume in 2021.

Finally, who's having a worst year than Jared Goff? I mean, he gets dealt from Los Angeles to Detroit, and then all the receivers up and leave. Old boy has got right now Kalif Raymond, Tyrell Williams, and Breshad Perriman as his trio of pass catching weapons. And Detroit has done so far nothing to help him out. Hope he likes kneecaps.
