Mad Bets: Steelers were big winners for the house in Wk 8

Minty Bets is joined by the Director of Trading for MGM Resorts, Jeff Stoneback, to discuss the top winners and losers from NFL Week 8.

MINTY BETS: It's time for winners and losers of Week 8, everyone. I'm here with Director of Trading for MGM Resorts, Jeff Stoneback. Jeff, we've got quite a few underdogs that covered today, and some that even won outright. Who was the biggest winner for you guys today?

JEFF STONEBACK: Well, those underdogs made a big day for the books. So it was probably the worst day of the season for the bettors. And the best day of the year for the books. So we had four really big games for us. So the big one was the Vikings beating the Packers. The Vikings opened up plus 7. Was bet down to plus 6 from the professionals. But the public was all over the Packers. So that was a big win for us. Another one was the Dolphins beating the Rams. That was a huge winner for us. The Bengals, that game actually opened-- They opened up as a 4.5-point dog. Tennessee got bet up to a 7-point favorite. That was a large win for us. And, believe it or not, a team undefeated, getting points, was a winner for us to, when the Steelers beat the Ravens.

MINTY BETS: Wow. Amazing. So who were the winners of the public?

JEFF STONEBACK: Not many. Actually, we only had, like, three games where the public did OK. And that was the Raiders beating the Browns. Raiders opened up as a 3-point dog, and they closed as a 1-point dog. Another one was the Broncos beating the Chargers. Even though that line went up from 1.5 to 3, we lost some moneyline bets on that. Made us a loser. And we did take a couple of six-figure bets on the 49ers. So that was a small loss for us. But the public did very well on that game, betting the Seahawks. Even though that line, the Seahawks went from 3.5 all the way down to we had the 49ers as a 1-point favorite at one time. That was all sharp money. But the public was all over the Seahawks, almost like they are every week. So that was about the only three winners that they had. It was a tough week for the bettors this week.
