John Legend dedicates emotional Billboard performance to Chrissy Teigen two weeks after losing baby

John Legend took the stage at the Billboard Music Awards Wednesday night just two weeks after his wife Chrissy Teigen announced on social media that they had lost their baby due to complications with the pregnancy. As Legend began to play, he said softly into the microphone, “This is for Chrissy.” He then performed a heart-wrenching, but at the same time uplifting version of “Never Break” from his Bigger Love album. Legend appeared to nearly get choked up toward the end of the song but powered through. Viewers took to Twitter to share their emotions following the performance, quite a few of them in tears.

- John Legend delivered what may have been the best performance of the night at the Billboard Music Awards Wednesday. Legend dedicated his performance of "Never Break" to his wife, Chrissy Teigen, who announced just two weeks earlier that the couple had lost their baby during pregnancy.
