High Winds Batter Guam's Capital as Typhoon Reaches 'Closest Point of Approach'

High winds battered Hagatna, Guam, on Wednesday, May 24, as the powerful typhoon Mawar barreled toward the island.

Mawar was making its “closest point of approach” on Wednesday night, bringing torrential rain and heavy winds to the island, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

This footage was posted to Twitter by Luke North and shows high winds, heavy rain, and lightning affecting Hagatna, Guam’s capital.
