Heavy Police Presence After Nine People Injured in Hollywood Beach Shooting

Nine people were taken to hospital after a shooting during an “altercation between two groups” at Florida’s Hollywood Beach on Monday, May 29, a police spokeswoman told reporters.

“Right now, we do have one person of interest detained and … we’re also searching for an additional suspect,” the spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said she did not know the conditions or ages of the nine people shot, but noted that “some of the victims were transported to Joe DiMaggio Hospital, which is a children’s hospital.”

Footage filmed by Instagram user @rafaelcaparroso shows police and other emergency services rushing to the scene of the shooting.
