Bob Woodward claims Trump lied about coronavirus because ‘he did not understand the American public’

Bob Woodward reflected on the stark contrast between President Trump’s misrepresentation of the coronavirus in public and his dire warnings about the dangers of it in private. In recorded conversations in February and March, Trump told Woodward that the coronavirus is more dangerous than the flu, but that he wanted to publicly downplay it so as not to create a panic.
