Italy thought they had taken the lead in the 10th minute when Giacinti slotted the ball into the back of the net, but she had drifted offside in the build-up. She then did break the deadlock five minutes later though when Bartoli's shot rolled under Peng and she fired the ball into the empty goal. Substitute Galli got their second just after half-time when her low shot beat the keeper at her near post and nestled into the bottom corner. China did create a lot of chances for themselves but weren't clinical enough to get on the scoresheet.

- 90'+4'Giugliano is down receiving some treatment after she was caught by a late challenge by Zhang. She is quickly off the pitch and although the injury looks like it's just an impact one, she's unlikely to come back on for the last few seconds.
