The Canadian PressRubiales crisis fallout sees next UEFA annual meeting moved from Spain to France
NYON, Switzerland (AP) â In turmoil since the actions of its former president Luis Rubiales at the Womenâs World Cup final, the Spanish soccer federation was stripped Tuesday of hosting the next annual meeting of European governing body UEFA. Madrid was due to host the 2024 UEFA Congress of 55 member federations on Feb. 8, and also hold the group-stage draw for the next menâs Nations League competition. UEFA said its executive committee decided to relocate both events to Paris on the same date.
The IndependentJessica Hawkins becomes first woman to test F1 car since 2018 as she completes Aston Martin laps
Jessica Hawkins has become the first woman in almost five years to test a Formula 1 car, completing 26 laps of the Hungaroring in Budapest for Aston Martin last Thursday. Hawkins, a former British Karting Champion, joined the Aston Martin F1 Team in 2021 as Driver Ambassador and her role within the team has since expanded. Before Hawkins, the most recent woman to test an F1 car was Colombiaâs Tatiana Calderon with Sauber - now Alfa Romeo - at the Hermanos Rodriguez track in Mexico City in October 2018.
