The decision was made due to Bayern's dip in form and a lack of consistency since the World Cup, according to former Bayern goalkeeper and current CEO, Oliver Kahn. "After the World Cup, we have played less successfully and less attractively," Kahn said in a statement on the club's website. Bayern had two of their three league defeats this season in their last five games, which has seen them lose their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to Borussia Dortmund.

Former Chelsea manager Tuchel was appointed the new manager following the shock sacking of Julian Nagelsmann. Bayern chiefs pulled the plug on the 35-year-old following the team's 2-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen - a result which saw them drop to second in the Bundesliga.
