    LA Galaxy president suspended, team fined for hidden pay

    NEW YORK (AP) — LA Galaxy President Chris Klein was suspended and the team fined $1 million by Major League Soccer on Friday for undisclosed payments involving Argentine winger Cristian Pavón in 2019. MLS stripped the team of $1 million in future general allocation money and said the Galaxy will not be allowed to acquire players coming to MLS internationally during next summer’s transfer window. MLS also said former general manager Dennis te Kloese must submit an application to the league office

    Vincent Aboubakar's late goal earns Cameroon famous World Cup victory over Brazil

    On what could have been an even greater night for the African side, another shock result this time did not have the desired outcome as Switzerland's win over Serbia made Cameroon's progress impossible, irrespective of the 1-0 victory at the Lusail Stadium. For a brief period Aboubakar's superb header in the third minute of added time had Cameroon believing in the impossible and federation president Samuel Eto'o frantically checking his phone in the VIP section for news from Stadium 974. Aboubakar was shown a second yellow card for removing his shirt and when when the whistle sounded on Cameroon's first World Cup win in 20 years they did not have long to wait to discover their fate.

    Switzerland reach last 16 after heated World Cup victory over Serbia

    Xherdan Shaqiri opened the scoring in a fiery end-to-end first half before Aleksandar Mitrovic levelled six minutes later. Dusan Vlahovic handed Serbia their first lead after 35 minutes but saw it cancelled out by Breel Embolo who sent the sides level into the break. It took Remo Freuler just three minutes to net the eventual winner after the restart and - despite chances for both sides - ensured Switzerland sealed second spot in Group G. Switzerland edged the 2018 group-stage encounter between the two sides when Granit Xhaka cancelled out Mitrovic's opener and Shaqiri fired in a last-gasp winner.
