German news outlet BILD has reported that the 35-year-old will take his time before moving on to somewhere new, saying that he would like to analyse what went wrong in his 21 months at Bayern and let it sink in before deciding on his next career move. Despite his availability, Tottenham Hotspur may have to wait until the summer to begin talks with Nagelsmann about him potentially becoming their new manager following Antonio Conte's recent sacking. Spurs would ideally like to bring him in sooner, but both parties would be comfortable with a summer start, given that Conte's former assistant Cristian Stellini has taken the reins in their last 10 games.

Turkey were the only team to pick up three points from the opening round of Group D games after managing a hard-earned 2-1 comeback win in their tricky trip to Armenia. Meanwhile, Croatia were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Wales, who snatched a last-gasp equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time, cancelling out Andrej Kramaric's first-half opener. Despite that setback, Croatia are also in the midst of a decent run of form, as their only defeat in 14 games came in their 3-0 loss to Argentina in the semifinals of the Qatar World Cup, while their last defeat away from home outside a finals tournaments was in June 2021 (0-1 in Belgium).
