It’s been nearly four years since Nick Diaz stepped into the octagon, and more than six years since his last win. It now looks like the wait for his return could go on even longer.

The 35-year-old fighter denied a report that he had agreed to fight Jorge Masvidal at UFC 235 in March, according to ESPN. Per the new report, Diaz accused UFC of trying to lowball him and said he would only return to fighting once UFC finds a fighter he deems worth facing:

“I think it’s rude of the UFC to try and lowball me and expect me to negotiate a deal while I’m training for a fight,” Diaz said via text message. “It’s not gonna go down like that. If anybody wants to fight me they know where to find me. I’m not a hard guy to find. Come get some.

“I have a lot going on trying to manage a few different businesses. Once things make sense for everybody in that they actually have some fighters that they respect and I respect, we can try and come to a deal and do a show. That’s how I feel.”

Nick Diaz’s long time away from UFC

It’s no secret that Diaz is enjoying a long hiatus away from fighting since his loss to Anderson Silva in January 2015, which was later turned into a no-decision after Silva tested positive for banned substances.

Before that Silva fight, Diaz also lost to Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Conduit, meaning that Diaz’s last win was against B.J. Penn all the way back in October 2011. For reference’s sake, Conor McGregor, Max Holloway and Ronda Rousey hadn’t even signed with UFC at that time.

After the Silva fight, Diaz tested positive for marijuana for the third time of his career and received a lengthy suspension that ran out earlier this year, though he was arrested on domestic violence charges soon after. Those charges were later dropped, leaving Diaz where he is now.

Per ESPN, Diaz repeatedly said he had no issue with fighting Masvridal, who reportedly has already signed on to fight Diaz.

UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley was floated as another possible opponent, but Diaz didn’t seem very impressed with the idea:

“I’ll walk through Woodley,” Diaz said. “He knows it. I didn’t need to say [in response to him]. That man has a life. I fight for one, like I always have.”

Tyron Woodley respectfully disagrees with Nick Diaz

Let’s just say that Woodley doesn’t think he’d be such as easy an opponent for Diaz:

This is just a suggestion, but there’s definitely a way to figure out who would “walk through” or “f— up” who, gentlemen.
