Stars Visiting National Parks

Not all celebrity getaways have to involve pools and beach cabanas. Take a look at the stars who prefer to use their downtime exploring the beautiful national parks that the good ol’ USA has to offer.

While many celebrities opt for the turquoise waters of Bora Bora for their honeymoon, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis went the opposite route. The low-key couple road-tripped up to Yosemite National Park two days after their wedding. The newlyweds spent the trip with their daughter, Wyatt, at the Ahwahnee Hotel, a historic landmark set on the valley floor. (Photo: Sharpshooter Images / Splash/Getty Images)

Of course, Diane Kruger turned some boulders into a runway. The fashionable star fit right in at Joshua Tree, in short jean shorts and a red plaid top. (Photo: Diane Kruger via Instagram)

Kourtney Kardashian

The Kardashians take Wyoming. Kourtney Kardashian explored Yellowstone National Park with her youngest son, Reign. Mason and Penelope weren’t left out, but instead they hung back with aunties Khloé and Kim, and cousin North West. (Photo: Kourtney Kardashian via Instagram)

Denise Richards

It seems the typical celebrity “national parks social media shot” features the back of the star’s head as she gazes off into the beautiful distance. Denise Richards followed suit at Iceberg Lake at Glacier National Park. “Spectacular,” she wrote alongside the pic. (Photo: Denise Richards)

Cindy Crawford

Leave it to Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber, and company to make sure the Grand Canyon isn’t necessarily the most beautiful thing in this picture. The supermodel shared a photo including her husband and children, Presley and Kaia, with the stunning scenery on full display. Cindy captioned the shot, “#notthegriswalds.” Noted! Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens

Austin + Vanessa = a whole lot of trouble. The High School Musical actress and her boyfriend, Austin Butler, spent a romantic Valentine’s Day in the Coconino National Forest in Arizona. When they were taking in the beautiful Arizona views, they apparently etched “Austin + Vanessa” in a heart, into a red rock. Authorities launched a criminal investigation into the pair for defacing a national park, according to officials. She ended up paying a $1,000 fine. (Photo: Vanessa Hudgens via Instagram)

Nina Dobrev

Little girl on a big rock. The former Vampire Diaries star went to Joshua Tree National Park with friends and got up close and personal with nature. “That awkward moment when you decide to boulder a cliff and realize you have no where to go. Except down. To your pitiful death,” she joked. Luckily, that didn’t happen. (Photo: Nina Dobrev via Instagram)

Oprah

Back in 2010, Oprah devoted two episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show to her visit to Yosemite National Park. The episodes showed the iconic talk show host enjoying activities such as fly-fishing and a mule ride. She also wanted to shed light on why there aren’t more visitors of color in national parks. Jared Leto

The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman looked like he was king of the world in Joshua Tree. Jared Leto soaked up the blue sky and the desert landscape on a picturesque day. (Photo: Jared Leto via Instagram)

Paris Jackson

Paris Jackson is as good behind the camera as she is in front of it. The model showed off her skills by capturing the scenery in Moab, Utah. (Photo: Paris Jackson via Instagram)

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt loves national parks so much, he wanted to do a photo shoot at three of them to accompany his GQ cover. The actor shot at Everglades National Park, White Sands National Monument, and Carlsbad Caverns National Park ahead of park season. Yes, that’s a thing celebs can do. (Photo: GQ)
