Meet the players chosen for Canada's men's Olympic hockey team

With no NHL players suiting up for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, the Canadian men’s hockey roster will be filled with several unfamiliar faces. Meet the players that will shoot for Canada’s third consecutive Olympic gold medal at the upcoming Winter Games.

<p>A native of Blyth, Ontario, Peters currently plays for the Kölner Haie organization of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. He was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the 2004 NHL entry draft (38th overall). He spent eight seasons with the Hurricanes organization before agreeing to a two-year contract with the Washington Capitals in 2015. Peters went on to play with the Arizona Coyotes before he was traded to the Dallas Stars in 2017. </p>
Justin Peters – Goalie

A native of Blyth, Ontario, Peters currently plays for the Kölner Haie organization of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. He was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the 2004 NHL entry draft (38th overall). He spent eight seasons with the Hurricanes organization before agreeing to a two-year contract with the Washington Capitals in 2015. Peters went on to play with the Arizona Coyotes before he was traded to the Dallas Stars in 2017.

<p>The Montreal, Quebec, native currently plays for KHL Medveščak Zagreb from Croatia in the Austrian Hockey League. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL entry draft (126th overall). He was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2015 before he was traded to the Calgary Flames later that year. He signed with Barys Astana in the KHL the very next season. </p>
Kevin Poulin – Goalie

The Montreal, Quebec, native currently plays for KHL Medveščak Zagreb from Croatia in the Austrian Hockey League. Ben Scrivens – Goalie

<p>A native of Vancouver, B.C., Eliott is currently under contract with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League. He was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round (49th overall) of the 2009 NHL entry draft. He was traded to the Arizona Coyotes in 2015, and then traded again to the Nashville Predators the following year. Elliott signed with Ak Bars Kazan of the Kontinental Hockey League in 2016 before transitioning to the SEL in 2017. </p>
Stefan Elliott – Defenceman

A native of Vancouver, B.C., Eliott is currently under contract with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League. He was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round (49th overall) of the 2009 NHL entry draft. He was traded to the Arizona Coyotes in 2015, and then traded again to the Nashville Predators the following year. Elliott signed with Ak Bars Kazan of the Kontinental Hockey League in 2016 before transitioning to the SEL in 2017.

<p>The Oakville, Ontario, native currently plays with the Stockton Heat in the American Hockey League. He was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round (37th overall) in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Goloube was traded to the Colorado Avalanche in 2016. </p>
Cody Goloubef – Defenceman

<p>Gragnani, from L’ile-Bizard, Quebec, currently plays with HC Dinamo Minsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. He was selected 87th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2005 NHL Entry draft. Gragnani was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 2012 before signing a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. He mads his transition to the KHL in 2013. </p>
Marc-Andre Gragnani – Defenceman

Gragnani, from L’ile-Bizard, Quebec, currently plays with HC Dinamo Minsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. He was selected 87th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2005 NHL Entry draft. Gragnani was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 2012 before signing a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. He mads his transition to the KHL in 2013.

<p>Lee, a native of MacTier, Ontario, is currently playing with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League. Lee was not drafted in the NHL. He played 249 games in the AHL with the Albany River Rats, Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, Iowa Stars, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. </p>
Chris Lee – Defenceman

Lee, a native of MacTier, Ontario, is currently playing with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League. Lee was not drafted in the NHL. He signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Wild in 2008 before he was traded to the New Jersey Devils in 2011. He made his transition to the the Swiss National League A in the summer of 2011, signing a contract with HC Ambri-Piotta. </p>
Maxim Noreau – Defenceman

Noreau, from Montreal, Quebec, is currently playing for SC Bern of the Swiss National League A. He signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Wild in 2008 before he was traded to the New Jersey Devils in 2011. He made his transition to the the Swiss National League A in the summer of 2011, signing a contract with HC Ambri-Piotta.

<p>The Calgary, Alberta, native (right) is currently playing for CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League. He was not drafted in the NHL, but has played several seasons in both the KHL as well as the Swedish Elite League. </p>

<p>From Camrose, Alberta, Stollery is currently playing with Dinamo Riga of the Kontinental Hockey League. He was signed to an amateur try-out contract with the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League in 2012. He signed a one-year contract with Lake Erie’s NHL affiliate, the Colorado Avalanche, in 2013. Stollery was traded to the San Jose Sharks in 2015 before signing with the New Jersey Devils in 2016. </p>

He also had stints with the Anaheim Ducks as well as the Columbus Blue Jackets. </p>
Rene Bourque – Forward

Brule, who was born in Edmonton, Alberta, currently plays for HC Traktor Chelyabinsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. He was selected sixth overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2005 NHL entry draft before being traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 2008. He was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Coyotes in 2012 before making his transition to Europe.

He joined the Phoenix Coyotes, his fourth NHL team in less than a year, in 2010. </p>
Andrew Ebbett – Forward

A native of Vernon, B.C., Ebbett is currently playing with SC Bern of the National League in Switzerland. Ebbett was undrafted before signing with the Ottawa Senators in 2006. One year later, he signed with the Anaheim Ducks before he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2009. He was picked up by the Minnesota Wild later that year. He joined the Phoenix Coyotes, his fourth NHL team in less than a year, in 2010.

He was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the first round (25th overall) of the 2010 NHL entry draft. He left as a free agent in 2010, signing a two-way contract with the Winnipeg Jets in 2016. Quinton Howden – Forward

Howden (right), who was born in Oakbank, Manitoba, currenrly plays HC Dinamo Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League. He was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the first round (25th overall) of the 2010 NHL entry draft. He left as a free agent in 2010, signing a two-way contract with the Winnipeg Jets in 2016. Howden made his transition to the KHL in 2017.

He was drafted in the fourth round (94th overall) by the Ottawa Senators in the 1999 NHL entry draft. Kelly was traded to the Boston Bruins in 2011, winning a Stanley Cup with the club in the same year. Kelly returned to the Senators as a free agent in 2016. the following summer, Kelly signed a professional tryout with the Edmonton Oilers but was not offered a contract. </p>

Wolski had stints with the Phoenix Coyotes, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals before taking his game overseas. </p>

Wolski, a Polish Canadian, is currently playing for Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. He was drafted in the first round (21st overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2004 NHL entry draft. Wolski had stints with the Phoenix Coyotes, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals before taking his game overseas.
