Golden Globes flashback: Harvey Weinstein's A-list after-parties

It’s hard to describe just how large Harvey Weinstein and his companies, first Miramax and then the Weinstein Company, loomed in Hollywood before the avalanche of sexual misconduct allegations against him began. One way to understand his influence is to look back at photos of his annual exclusive, celebrity-studded party following the Golden Globes, where there were often big wins to be celebrated. While it’s no surprise that this year’s festivities are a no-go, we offer a glimpse of some A-list attendees from the past several years.

Madonna, Harvey Weinstein, and Gwyneth Paltrow

Remember when Madge and Gwyneth were besties? They posed with Weinstein at the 1998 bash, ahead of Paltrow’s breakthrough role in Shakespeare in Love. (Photo: Patrick McMullan/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images)

Nick Carter and Paris Hilton

Seriously, everybody wanted to be there. In 2004, the reality star and her Backstreet Boy-friend were happy to be photographed at such a happening event. (Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images)

Casper Smart, Jennifer Lopez, and Sean Combs

Awkward! J.Lo’s then-boyfriend, Smart, left, shook hands with her ex-boyfriend, Diddy, at the 2013 affair. “This guy? Really?” Combs seems to be thinking. Expect Alex Rodriguez to be on Lopez’s arm at this year Globes. (Photo: Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Chopard)

Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Selena Gomez, and Sarah Hyland

A who’s-who of young Hollywood made the scene in 2013. From left, besties Hudgens and Tisdale, plus Hudgens’s co-star from 2012’s Spring Breakers Selena Gomez, and Modern Family‘s Hyland, took a group shot. If they look young, it’s because they were! Gomez was only 21. (Photo: Michael Tran/FilmMagic)

Orlando Bloom and Mick Jagger

Bloom and Jagger gossiped at Weinstein’s 2005 fete. The duo were clearly dishing some juicy secrets… (Photo: L. Cohen/WireImage for Glamour)

Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp

Orly also chatted with his Pirates of the Caribbean co-star Depp, who lost the night’s Best Actor in a Drama trophy — he was nominated for Finding Neverland — to Leonardo DiCaprio, who won for his performance in The Aviator. (Photo: L. Cohen/WireImage for Glamour)

Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, and their moms

The leading men (and two of the night’s nominees) took their moms as their dates to the 2014 party thrown by the Weinstein Company. How awesome is it that the women had another mom to hang with? (Photo: Jeff Vespa/Getty Images for The Weinstein Company)

Matt Damon, Harvey Weinstein, and Ben Affleck

In 1998, Damon and Affleck were Weinstein’s golden boys, as Good Will Hunting, the movie they starred in and wrote, cleaned up. These days, the longtime friends are a little less happy to be linked to Weinstein. (Photo: Patrick McMullan/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images)

Rosario Dawson and Brittany Murphy

Dawson probably has bittersweet feelings about this photo of her at the 2005 party, embracing her late friend Murphy. Less than five years later, Murphy died at 32 of pneumonia. (Photo: L. Cohen/WireImage for Glamour)

Taylor Swift, Este Haim, Jaime King, Harvey Weinstein, and Lorde

In 2015, Weinstein posed with Taylor Swift’s squad, including Este Haim (second from left), Jaime King, and Lorde. Hmmm, how uncomfortable do Haim and Lorde look? (Photo: Jeff Vespa/Getty Images for The Weinstein Company)

Milo Ventimiglia and Alexis Bledel

Remember when these two Gilmore Girls co-stars — pictured here at 2005 Miramax bash — dated? Ventimiglia, who’s now on This Is Us, and The Handmaid’s Tale actress Bledel are on opposite teams this year, as their shows face off in the Best TV Drama category. (Photo: L. Cohen/WireImage for Glamour)

John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, and Harvey Weinstein

Krasinski and his wife, Blunt, mingled with the producer in the decked-out party venue chosen for 2013. She was one of the night’s nominees for Best Actress in a Comedy, for her turn in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen. (Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images)

Naomi Watts

More coffee? Carlos Sanchez, in his Colombian coffee man Juan Valdez outfit, sidled up to Watts in 2005. She looked as if she needed a pick-me-up — or maybe just some flats! — right about then. (Photo: L. Cohen/WireImage for Glamour Magazine)

Daniel Day Lewis, Jared Leto, and Cameron Diaz

Diaz was really into whatever Gangs of New York co-star Day-Lewis, left, was saying to her and her boyfriend at the 2003 soiree. Leto looked as cool as ever. (Photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic)

Renee Zellweger and Harvey Weinstein

Zellweger and Weinstein had a serious conversation on Jan. 25, 2004, the night that she took home a Globe for Cold Mountain. Think they were already prepping for the release of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason? (Photo: L. Cohen/WireImage)

Angelina Jolie and Jonny Lee Miller

Jolie made her way down the carpet and into the party with her then-husband, Elementary star Miller, in 1999, years before her marriages to Billy Bob Thornton and Brad Pitt. She was already a golden girl after winning one of the night’s acting trophies for Gia. (Photo: Jim Smeal/WireImage)

Michael Sheen, Kate Beckinsale, and Len Wiseman

Sheen, left, and Beckinsale are famously friendly exes, as this shot of the two with Wiseman, who was her husband when this photo was snapped at the 2014 bash, shows. (Photo: Michael Tran/FilmMagic)

Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas

Need a tissue? Griffith and Banderas, who announced plans to divorce in June 2014 after 18 years of marriage, were so in love at Miramax’s 1999 Golden Globes bash. (Photo: Ron Galella/WireImage)

Cara Delevingne, Georgina Chapman, Jennifer Lopez, and Rita Ora

Chapman, second from left, Weinstein’s designer wife, who left after allegations against him began to come out, spent the 2015 after-party with her fashionable friends, including Delevingne, J.Lo, and Ora. (Photo: Jeff Vespa/Getty Images for The Weinstein Company)

Will Arnett and Ricky Gervais

There’s a reason why they call it a party! It’s precisely because of moments like this, in which Gervais, right, made himself at home on Arnett’s lap at the 2015 event. (Photo: Rich Polk/Getty Images for Fiji Water)

Dominic Monaghan and Evangeline Lilly

The Lost stars, who coupled up for a few years in the aughts, stayed close in 2005. Their show was up for the night’s Best Drama award, but it lost out to Nip/Tuck. (Photo: Jason Merritt/FilmMagic)

Asia Argento

If the name sounds familiar, there’s a reason: Argento is one of the women who have made sexual misconduct allegations against Weinstein. She appeared at the company’s 2004 bash. (Photo: Albert L. Ortega/WireImage)

Kevin Spacey and Julia Roberts

Spacey, who was living it up with Roberts in 2014, is having a much less fun time these days. Both actors were nominated that year: Spacey for House of Cards, the show in which he has now been replaced as the star, and Roberts for August: Osage County. Jaime King, Taylor Swift, and Hailee Steinfeld

T. Swift and her friends will make any excuse to party. The singer stopped by the Weinstein Company’s 2014 event with King, left, and Steinfeld. No surprise, they had a blast! (Photo: Jeff Vespa/Getty Images for The Weinstein Company)

Andy Samberg, Jonah Hill, and Billy Bush

Bush, President Trump’s partner in that infamous Access Hollywood tape, photobombed Brooklyn Nine-Nine producer and star Samberg, left, and his buddy Hill in 2016. Well, one of them looks amused… (Photo: Michael Kovac/Getty Images for Moet & Chandon)

Ashton Kutcher and Ashley Scott

Before he married Demi Moore and long before he and current wife Mila Kunis were more than co-stars, Kutcher briefly dated Scott, an actress from Jericho and Unreal. Their romance didn’t last, but this snapshot of them at the 2002 party will live on forever. (Photo: Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic)
