The Foxiest Celebrity Silver Foxes

What is it about a head full of gray hair on men and women alike? (Looking at you, Helen Mirren.) Forsaking the dye has given these men — who were no slouches in the looks department to begin with — a certain je ne sais quoi. See for yourself.

Steve Carell

The Office alum, 54, showed his true color while promoting Despicable Me 3 in London on June 21, and the Internet went crazy over the new ’do. (Crazy in a good way.) Of course the comedic actor had a humorous take on it all, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I am so sick of people just looking at me for my physical attributes.” Carell, who has been married to wife Nancy since 1995, added, “It’s just genetic. There’s nothing I can do.” (Photo: Neil Mockford/GC Images)

George Clooney

Perhaps the foxiest silver fox of all is this guy. The 56-year-old superstar’s salt and pepper style is a long way from his days as George With the Mullet on Facts of Life. Now a new dad to twins (with his superwoman wife Amal), expect the “pepper” part to become all “salt.” (Photo: Mike Marsland/Mike Marsland/Getty Images for OMEGA)

John Slattery

The Mad Men alum, 54, is a total silver fox — just don’t call him one. “I hate ‘silver fox,'” Slattery, who has been married to Talia Balsam since 1998, told Vanity Fair in 2009. “I absolutely hate it. It just sounds so… slimy and embarrassing.” Noted, but it’s said with appreciation. (Photo: Ryan Liu/FilmMagic)

Barack Obama

The 44th president, who is 55, got grayer each year he was in office, but when he left in early 2017, he acquired a glow on top of it all. Though we’re sure each day Trump remains in office it clouds a little of Michelle’s better half’s sunshine. (Photo: James Devaney/GC Images)

Eric Dane

The Grey’s Anatomy hunk, 44, has been under the radar recently as he treats his depression. Personal problems aside, has he gotten McSteamy-er since he left the show or what? We’re sure Rebecca Gayheart, his wife since 2004, would agree. (Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage)

Patrick Dempsey

We can’t mention one without the other. Patrick Dempsey, who was Grey’s Anatomy‘s McDreamy, has only gotten better with age, which for the record is 51. (He’s been married to Jillian Fink since 1999.) If you doubt us, re-watch Can’t Buy Me Love. (Photo: Fotonoticias/WireImage)

Idris Elba

Whoever said gray hair isn’t sexy — if there is such a person — hasn’t set eyes on Idris Elba. The Luther star (and future James Bond?), 44, let his chin fur go and the rest is slowly catching up. The divorcé got some time until he’s all gray, but we’ll enjoy watching the progression. (Photo: David M Benett/Dave Benett/Getty Images for Britvic)

Anderson Cooper

While Idris is slowly going gray, there’s 50-year-old Anderson Cooper, who has been silver for as long as we remember. The newsman said he started going gray in his thirties and the next thing he knew, he was all silver. For the record, he misses his original color. “I don’t really like my gray hair,” he said on Live With Kelly in 2016. “I wish I still had brown hair. It’s not my thing… If I could, I would probably color my hair, but I couldn’t imagine sitting in a salon with tin foil in my hair reading old issues of Rosie for hours. At this point it’s too late — the cow has left the barn.” (Photo: Getty Images)

Craig Ferguson

Last year, the former late-night host, 55, joked that “maybe” he had a “little gray creeping in” on that head of his. Ferguson, who has been married to Megan Wallace-Cunningham since 2008, moved beyond the maybe phase for sure, but he’s just getting better with age. Taylor Kinney

The Chicago Fire star is one of the younger fellas to join the gray group. At 35, we can only imagine that Lady Gaga caused most of it. (Photo: Ilya S. Savenok/Getty Images)
